This week in Robotics Club at Capalaba Library, participants started off by adding their colour sensor to their robot. Once the sensor was added, it was time to learn some new code. This new code enabled their robots to sense the difference between the floor and black tape marked on the floor. Then the first challenge began! The challenge was for the participants to code their robot to see if they could get their robot to start on the black line, move to the next black line, stop and continue on to the last black line. Everybody worked incredibly hard and the code was worked out pretty quickly. It was then on to the next challenge! The next challenge was to learn about the display code and to display an image on their robot, whilst it was moving in between the black lines. This is when a participant said “Um I think I will turn my speed up to 100 and hope for the best”. Their theory unfortunately didn’t work however upon reflection, they eventually got the code correct.

Welcome to Code RedlandsCode Redlands is a STEAM and robotics program dedicated to creating a an environment where we can explore, learn and create. With Digital Literacy a new focus for the future, we want to augment digital literacy skills by offering space, technology, and facilitators. We hope to equip the next generations of Queenslanders with STEAM (Science Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) skills to find their own place in an increasingly digital world.
School Holiday ActivitiesRedland Libraries offer School Holiday Activities throughout the year for children aged 8 and above.
