STEAM Club
Term 1 of STEAM Club (previously Code Club) at Capalaba Library has started at full steam. The participants have begun working together to code an Mbot. An Mbot is a small robot that can be coded with drag and drop coding to follow a maze, draw a line or even perform a dance. This introduction to coding and robotics will build the foundations of more complex coding to follow later in the term. Everyone has been thoroughly enjoying working through their Mbot coding, and they can’t wait to see what the rest of the term brings. Robotics Club Robotics Club 2019 has begun and participants will be given the tools this term to work through the basics of coding and building a Lego EV3 Mindstorm kit. Participants will be given a coding challenge or two each week and with everything they have learnt throughout the term, they will participate in a Sumobot competition at Capalaba Library. Weeks one and two were about learning how to build their robot and how to code their robot to move simply from one line to another. Next week’s challenge will teach participants how to code their robot how to avoid an obstacle and drive around it.
