Term three of Code and Robotics at Capalaba has just started and the participants are very excited to see what the term ahead brings.
We started Code Club week 1 off with learning about scratch and how to create and modify a game for a more realistic experience. The lesson first started with the basics of block coding and what game we are going to code. We then moved on to coding the game and then playing the game to understand the characters movements and discuss how we can make the characters movements more smooth and lifelike. After deciding the best plan of attack, the participants then went ahead and re-evaluated their code and adjusted the code to their liking. The participants enjoyed working with scratch and coding their own game and personalising it. Next week, we are going to have a look at coding another game, but using Python coding. Term three of robotics is all about learning the basics of Lego Mindstorms and designing a robot that can win at the termly “Capalaba Library Sumobot Competition”. Week one was all about learning what a Lego mindstorm is and how to assemble the robot. The participants had a lot of fun and they cannot wait to proceed with building their best sumobot.

Welcome to Code RedlandsCode Redlands is a STEAM and robotics program dedicated to creating a an environment where we can explore, learn and create. With Digital Literacy a new focus for the future, we want to augment digital literacy skills by offering space, technology, and facilitators. We hope to equip the next generations of Queenslanders with STEAM (Science Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) skills to find their own place in an increasingly digital world.
School Holiday ActivitiesRedland Libraries offer School Holiday Activities throughout the year for children aged 8 and above.
