It was a great term at Cleveland, with the kids working through 7 weeks on our farming challenge.
Farming is a huge growth area in robotics due to its high labour intensity and repetitive nature.
Robotics areas include drones for crop checking, planting, seeding and weeding machines and even livestock tracking.
Participants were tasked with having their robot: plow a field, herd some livestock to a designated paddock and collect and feed some ducks.
Working in teams we learnt a lot about cumulative error, problem solving and engineering strange new robotics attachments.
Well done to everyone it was a lot of fun.
Week 6 of code club was all about the participants finishing up their Pong game and adventuring into ‘Hour of Code’.
The participants were very excited to finish their Pong game to compete against each other. There were some strong competition, but ultimately, every participant was excellent at the game. Once their game was finished, participants could then go ahead and have a look at ‘Hour of Code’ and see what project they would like to start and finish over the lesson and next week.
This week in Robotics, participants started getting ready for the sumobot competition being held in week 7 of Robotics Club here at Capalaba. The lesson mainly focused on putting together the last 5 weeks of coding skills to test and see if the participants can successfully code their robots to battle each other.
Next week will be the last lesson of the term and the big finale. Stay tuned next week for videos of the big Sumobot competition.
Welcome to Code Redlands
Code Redlands is a STEAM and robotics program dedicated to creating a an environment where we can explore, learn and create. With Digital Literacy a new focus for the future, we want to augment digital literacy skills by offering space, technology, and facilitators. We hope to equip the next generations of Queenslanders with STEAM (Science Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) skills to find their own place in an increasingly digital world.
Redland Libraries offer School Holiday Activities throughout the year for children aged 8 and above.
